ACE Provincial Advocacy

Advocating for Quality Childcare Across Canada

ACE advocates for equitable treatment of childcare facilities and licensed day homes/agencies across Canada.

ACE National represents childcare operators across Canada, but we know that advocacy must also reflect the unique realities of each province.

That’s why our Provincial Committees are such an important part of our structure.

ACE's Membership Benefits

Membership Benefits

Advocacy

We are building connections with MLAs, MPs, Ministers, future Premier candidates, Chamber of Commerce, CFIB, CARDUS and many others. We are having meetings, writing letters, and challenging our elected officials and departments on the matters that mean most to you. We are surveying our members to find out what matters most to them and sharing this information with Government officials.

Media

We are issuing news releases and talking to the press to ensure our story is told. We are sharing information and knowledge about proposed policy and helping journalists tell the story of private childcare operators.

Support

We have created a community for childcare entrepreneurs to feel supported. Our online members only group, member meetings, and easy access to our board members ensure our members feel respected and have the touch points they need to operate and navigate changes.

Resources

We share poignant resources with passionate childcare centre entrepreneurs so they can grow their skill sets and offer high quality programs. We host webinars and provide templates so that members fully understand current issues and changes. We provide infographics and simple breakdowns of policy so that it is easy to understand.

Advocating for Quality Childcare in Ontario

The Ontario ACE Chapter advocates for equitable treatment of childcare facilities and licensed day homes/agencies in Ontario

ACE Ontario Advocacy Goals

  • Champion a funding approach that reflects the real cost of delivering quality care, ensuring stability and sustainability for operators.

  • Advocate for revenue replacement models, proven effective in Alberta and B.C., that give providers confidence to plan and invest.

1. A Fair and Predictable Funding Model

  • Push for funding based on quality and compliance, not ownership structure, so every family has access to care that meets their needs.

  • Protect parent choice while supporting expansion across the sector.

2. Equal Access to Funding for All Licensed Providers

  • Ensure licensed operators can offer optional enhancements (e.g., higher-quality meals, classroom cameras, extended programming) without losing CWELCC eligibility.

  • Align Ontario’s rules with Alberta’s successful model, giving parents more options while maintaining affordability.

3. Flexibility to Offer Value-Added Services

4. Recruitment and Retention of Educators

  • Advocate for comprehensive workforce strategies, including:
  1. Reinstating Wage Enhancements (WEGs) for all licensed centres.
  2. Funding all educators, not just RECEs.
  3. Reevaluating the definition of “qualified staff” to better reflect real-world needs.

  • Prioritize long-term solutions that make early childhood education a respected and sustainable career.

5. Streamlined Processes and Reduced Red Tape

  • Call for a standardized application process across Ontario to reduce delays in capital and operational funding.

  • Simplify administrative requirements so providers can spend more time serving children and families and less time navigating bureaucracy.
